Who we are?

School of animated film from Vranje was established 1987 as a society organization. SAF is beneficiary of Local government budget since foundation first like an NGO and since 2011th like a public institution of culture and became a rarity not only in Serbia but in the entire region. There are seven staff members who work with children and young, organize internationals manifestations, write projects, financial plans, reports. We have good network of associates and volunteers but also very good cooperation with institutions on local and state level, with NGO, implementation of a many national and international projects.

What we do?

• Our first animated film named “BOX” was produced in 1987.
• We lead and teach at animation workshops in the region and around the world,
• We organize a creative workshop aimed at improving children’s fine motor skills,
• We organize exhibitions during international workshops or anniversaries,
• We organize a masquerade at ŠAF at the end of each calendar year,
• We travel to festivals with our films in Serbia and around the world and win awards.

… and workshops… We hold many workshops for animated film in many towns of
Serbia. Also, we work with children from kinder garden, children with special needs, several workshops with Roman and Serbian, two Multiethnic workshops in Bujanovac with Albanians, Roman and Serbian kids. In 2017th and 2018th SAF worked with young migrants situated in Registration centers in Presevo and Bujanovac. All those workshops give opportunity to break the differences between different populations and build connections among children and youth.

"Golden Snail"

The first World Children Festival for Animated Film “Golden Snail” was held in August in 2009. The festival is support by Local Government, Ministry of Culture Republic of Serbia, Ministry of Sport and Youth Republic of Serbia, USA Embassy from Belgrade, Italian Institute of Culture from Belgrade, and many others partners, sponsors and contributors. Following program of the festivals are master class where famous animators from over the world shared their experiences with guests, presentation of schools, animators, exhibitions, press conferences, round tables etc. But everything begins with our favorite event an international workshop… Long time ago in 1997th we have started with organization of International Children Workshop for Animated film which is holding every second year here in Vranje during August. Both manifestation, workshop and festival, now, we call Golden Snail. Until now we hold 13 international workshops with guests and participants from all around the world with more than 50 produced films.

We are opened

or every international cooperation, regional and Serbian. We have a lot of experience in children animated film and our skills could be helpful for others who start in the same or similar projects. Discovering the secret hidden in a second is going to be our main goal in the future, together with the mission which is are “Give children and youth the same chances where ever they live” is our guiding star.
